REAL ESTATE ALERT - Homebuyer Assistance and Improvement Act of 2010

On July 2, 2010, President Obama signed the Homebuyer Assistance and Improvement Act of 2010.  One of the most important provisions extends the settlement completion date for the tax credit on residential real property purchases to September 30, 2010.  In order to obtain the credit, homebuyers must attach a completed Form 5405 and various closing documents to their 2010 tax returns.
