Robert R. Watson, Jr. Presents Seminar to PBI’s 2018 Real Estate Institute
Robert R. Watson, Jr., a Shareholder in the firm’s Construction Law practice group, will serve as a co-panelist at a seminar entitled, “Payment Bonds, the Prompt Payment Acts and Limiting and Responding to Lien Claims: Practical Responses to Contractors’ Favorite Weapons”.
Real estate owners, developers and investors – and the attorneys who represent them – often do not understand the practical tools used by contractors, subcontractors and suppliers to protect their own right to payment on projects they work on. This seminar will help those involved to understand the process of construction payment protections from the tradesperson’s perspective and can help an owner limit or avoid being wrapped into payment disputes as a job winds ahead – leading to a more successful project for all involved.
With nearly 20 years of experience representing clients from all aspects of the construction industry, Mr. Watson is a frequent lecturer on construction law-related topics. In 2016, he was selected to work with Pennsylvania officials to launch the Pennsylvania State Construction Notices Directory website, which provides some additional protections under the Mechanics’ Lien Law.
PBI is the continuing legal education arm of the Pennsylvania Bar Association. The Annual Real Estate Institute is the PBI’s most popular real estate event of the year. To learn more about the PBI or to register for this event, please visit PBI’s website, www.pbi.org.
