Two Eastburn and Gray Attorneys to Participate in MBA Real Estate Seminar
Joan Righter Price, Esq.[/caption]Joan Righter Price, Esq. will speak at the Montgomery Bar Association’s Real Estate Committee meeting on June 28, 2018 in Norristown. Marc D. Jonas, Esq., co-chair of the committee, will serve as moderator.
The seminar will cover practical tips and tools to obtain a real estate tax exemption for a nonprofit or religious organization, identify the pitfalls of corporate structure decisions and how they impact the possibility of exempt status. Ms. Price will review recent court decisions and how they impact the evolving area of real estate tax exemptions. This seminar will be especially insightful to attorneys advising non-profit entities or religious organizations on real estate matters as well as corporate attorneys representing non-profits looking for a deeper understanding of tax exemptions.
Ms. Price represents clients in litigation involving real estate valuation, exemption and uniformity issues as well as issues involving preferential assessments. She represents clients in hearings before local boards of assessment, in the courts of common pleas and the appellate courts of Pennsylvania. Prior to joining Eastburn and Gray, Ms. Price served as Solicitor to the Montgomery County Board of Assessment Appeals for more than 20 years.
For more than 15 years, Mr. Jonas has served as the chair/co-chair of the Montgomery Bar Association’s Real Estate committee, a committee whose membership includes real estate, municipal, and land use law practitioners. Under his leadership, that committee twice was recognized by the Montgomery Bar Association as the Committee of the Year. He presently serves as a member of the Association’s Judiciary Committee which evaluates judicial candidates, and in 2017, he was elected to the Board of Directors of the Montgomery Bar Association. Among his notable accomplishments, Mr. Jonas has been named by Best Lawyers in America® the 2018 Lawyer of the Year for Litigation in Land Use and Zoning Law in the Philadelphia Area. This follows his selection as 2017 Lawyer of the Year for Land Use and Zoning Law in the Philadelphia Area, by Best Lawyers in America®.
