Two Eastburn and Gray Shareholders Recognized by ChambersUSA
Marc D. Jonas and John A. VanLuvanee have been named as “Leaders in Their Field” in the Chambers USA 2014 Directory, published by Chambers and Partners, a United Kingdom-based legal publisher.
Mr. VanLuvanee and Mr. Jonas, co-chairs of the firm’s land use practice group, were recognized in the field of Real Estate: Zoning/Land Use. Chambers and Partners publishes the leading guides to the legal profession and has been ranking the best law firms and lawyers since 1990, covering 185 jurisdictions throughout the world.
Mr. Jonas has extensive experience in real estate, land use, municipal law, and zoning matters, representing individuals, businesses, institutions, non-profit organizations and municipalities. For more than 30 years, he has practiced land use and real estate law. In his career, Mr. Jonas has appeared as counsel in Pennsylvania state and federal courts in land use and real estate matters. He serves as solicitor to various municipalities and zoning hearing boards in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Mr. Jonas also serves as Chairman of the Board of the Montgomery County Planning Commission. He is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania and the University of Pennsylvania Law School.
Mr. VanLuvanee handles zoning, subdivision and land development matters, as well as real estate transactional matters, for both developers and property owners. His clients include national builders and developers, as well as many regional and local builders and developers. For more than 30 years, he has served as counsel to the Home Builders Association of Bucks/Montgomery Counties. Mr. VanLuvanee frequently participates as a faculty member in presenting continuing legal education programs for the Pennsylvania Bar Institute and the Bucks County Bar Association. During his career, Mr. VanLuvanee has been involved in many significant, precedent-setting land use cases decided by the Commonwealth Court and the Pennsylvania Supreme Court.
Over the years, the land use and zoning practice group at Eastburn and Gray has been consistently ranked by several other leading industry ranking systems. Most recently, the firm’s land use and zoning practice group was listed as one of only five law firms in the Philadelphia region that has been recognized by US News and World Report as a 2013 – 2014 “Best Law Firm” in the field of Land Use and Zoning Law. In addition to the firm’s ranking, both Mr. VanLuvanee and Mr. Jonas were individually selected for inclusion in the field of Land Use and Zoning Law.
