Wealth Management and Estate Planning for Family Law Clients

Join us for a complimentary seminar focused on wealth management and estate planning. If your family status is in transition, or has recently transitioned, you should plan to attend this seminar to reexamine your financial and estate planning needs and address how best to plan for your future.

This presentation will focus on the challenging familial, legal, and tax issues that arise when planning for individuals who intend to divorce, those who have recently divorced, and those who have divorced and intend to re-marry.

Our discussion will include the following topics:

  • Preparation of estate planning documents including Wills, Powers of Attorney, and Medical Powers of Attorney
  • Planning for minor beneficiaries
  • Importance of beneficiary designations on investment and retirement accounts and life insurance
  • Pre-marital Agreements and Post-Marital Agreements
  • Asset protection Trusts

Pre-marital and post-marital agreements often involve cross-over with financial planning and estate planning issues. In discussing how best to structure such agreements, the speakers will pay particular attention to the estate planning ramifications that family law practitioners should know and discuss the family law issues that estate planners should take into consideration. Knowing how and where family law and estate planning rules intersect is critical.
