Erin Kernan Aronson is a Shareholder who represents clients in a range of industries with regard to their transactional and litigation needs. In particular, Erin has a depth of experience meeting client needs in the areas of Real Estate, Corporate, Labor and Employment, Education and School Law.
Education and School LawErin advises school districts in all areas of education law, including constitutional issues, disciplinary proceedings, and all issues arising under the Pennsylvania School Code and its implementing regulations. She is well-versed in all aspects of the Pennsylvania Right-to-Know Law, and has argued on appeal in the Commonwealth Court of Pennsylvania in relation to the RTKL. Erin also regularly counsels school districts regarding their obligations pursuant to the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). She routinely prepares contracts for school districts on a range of topics. In addition, Erin represents school districts in relation to special education law, and litigates due process hearings pursuant to the Individuals with Disabilities in Education Act, and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973.
Real EstateErin represents clients in all aspects of residential and commercial real estate transactions, including the preparation, negotiation and enforcement of agreements of sale, addendums, leases, easement agreements, restrictive covenants, deeds, assignments of leases, novations, and post-closing agreements. Additionally, she has experience in analyzing title issues, financing, and issues related to the use and condition of the property, including inspection concerns and zoning matters. Erin frequently prepares and reviews leases for real property; represents landlords and tenants when disputes arise; provides counsel regarding financing and drafts legal instruments as necessary including Notes, Mortgages Guarantees related to the sale or purchase of real property throughout Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
Corporate Transactional WorkErin routinely handles business and corporate law matters for entrepreneurs, and local, small and large businesses. She has experience in forming corporate entities, drafting organizational documents; drafting and negotiating agreements for the sale and acquisition of corporate entities; advising clients regarding corporate governance; and preparing and negotiating instruments, including: employment agreements, consulting agreements, severance agreements, employment handbooks, and restrictive covenants.
Labor and EmploymentErin regularly handles employment matters on behalf of both employers and employees related to issues of discrimination, wage and payment disputes, unemployment compensation, and/or medical leave. She routinely advises clients on claims of workplace discrimination on the basis of sex, race, ethnicity, or disability, which arise under Title VII, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA), and the Pennsylvania Human Relations Act (PHRA). In addition, she advises clients regarding issues related to the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), and the Pennsylvania Minimum Wage Act and Wage Payment and Collection Law. Erin negotiates and prepares employment contracts and severance agreements on behalf of both employers and employees.
Erin is a member of the Pennsylvania Bar Association and the Bucks County Bar Association.
Erin is admitted to practice in both Pennsylvania and New Jersey as well as the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, the United States District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit.
Erin earned her law degree, cum laude, from Villanova University School of Law in Villanova, Pennsylvania, where she was Managing Editor of Symposia for Villanova Law Review. She earned her undergraduate degree in Sociology with a minor in Political Science from the University of Delaware in Newark, Delaware.
Prior to practicing law, Erin’s career focused on public service in both state government and politics, including positions with both Delaware's current governor, the Honorable John C. Carney and lieutenant governor, the Honorable Bethany Hall-Long. She also worked in the Office of the Cabinet Secretary for the Delaware Department of Health and Social Services, and the Delaware State Senate.
Erin grew up in Bucks County, where she currently resides with her family. She enjoys participating in triathlons, traveling and reading.
