Joe Bresnan is a skilled general practitioner who has been representing Montgomery County, Pennsylvania residents, businesses, and municipalities since 1985.
After graduating from law school, Joe served as a Law Clerk to the Honorable Vincent A. Cirillo, President Judge of the Superior Court of Pennsylvania. For three years after the clerkship, Joe served as a Prosecutor in the Montgomery County District Attorney’s office. During this time, he tried white collar crimes and received training from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms on the prosecution of arson cases
Since leaving public service, Joe has maintained an active private practice where he has represented clients in various matters in and out of court in Montgomery, Bucks, Chester, Delaware and Berks counties. He has experience representing clients in divorce and domestic matters, criminal defense, car accidents, injuries suffered on the land of another, breach of contract, wrongful firing, medical malpractice, eminent domain, defamation, appeals of tax assessments, and more.
Today, Joe’s practice is focused entirely on municipal law. He represents Ambler Borough, Rockledge Borough, Upper Hanover Township, Upper Providence Township and its sewer authority, and the Pennsburg Borough’s Zoning Hearing Board.
Joe serves as conflict counsel to the Lower Providence Township Zoning Hearing Board and has served as litigation counsel to Montgomery Township and Plymouth Township and the Limerick Sewer Authority.
He previously represented West Pottsgrove Township and the Bryn Athyn and New Hanover Zoning Hearing Boards. He previously served as the assistant solicitor to the Pottstown School District and for sixteen years, he served as the solicitor to the Montgomery County Board of Elections.
Joe was previously a criminal law instructor at a local paralegal and business school.
Joe is a member of the Pennsylvania and Montgomery County Bar Associations.
Joe is admitted to practice in all Pennsylvania state courts and the United States District Court for the Third Circuit.
Joe served as a law clerk to the Honorable Vincent A. Cirillo, President Judge of the Superior Court of Pennsylvania.
Joe was actively involved in his children’s football, lacrosse and tennis teams, serving as team parent and announcing football games. He has also been involved in various organizational fundraisers in the Oaks section of the county.
Joe is married with two grown children. He is a lifelong resident of Montgomery County.
Joe received his Bachelor of Arts from Penn State University and his Juris Doctor from Widener University School of Law.
