Biography

John Schaeffer practices in the areas of estate planning and administration, business and real estate law, municipal law, and estate and business litigation. He has handled estate-related litigation at the trial and appellate levels, including representing the family of Daniel Joseph Fiori in the case of In re Fiori, a landmark Pennsylvania case establishing the rights of family members to make end-of-life decisions for incapacitated persons who have no living will. His practice includes cases in state and federal courts and the U.S. Tax court.

John represents clients in the formation and management of business entities and non-profit organizations, and in purchase, sale and financing transactions. He also practices in the area of municipal law and is currently the solicitor for the Perkasie Regional Authority, a water and sewer authority in Perkasie, Pennsylvania.

John is a member of the Bucks County and Pennsylvania Bar Associations.

John is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania and New Jersey.

Education

John received his undergraduate degree from Colgate University in 1979, magna cum laude. He received his law degree from the University of Pennsylvania in 1982.

Volunteer and Community Work

John is active in his community and is a former member of the Springfield Township (Montgomery County) Planning Commission where he served as Chairman from 1999 to 2005.

John and his wife Nancy live in Glenside, Pennsylvania and have four sons.
