Eastburn and Gray Education Law Attorneys to Speak at 2013 Exceptional Children Conference

Grace M. Deon, Esquire and Joanne D. Sommer, Esquire will speak at the 2013 Exceptional Children Conference in Lancaster, Pennsylvania on October 28, 2013. Ms. Deon and Ms. Sommer are both Shareholders in the firm’s Education Law practice. Together, they have more than 50 years of special education law experience between them.

Ms. Deon serves as one of two Course Planners for the Conference. She practices in the areas of Special Education, Employment and Commercial Litigation. Much of her work consists of trying cases on behalf of school districts and employers before state and federal courts and administrative agencies. She also has represented school districts in numerous special education due process hearings. She is Chair of the Pennsylvania Bar Association Legal Services for Exceptional Children Committee.

Ms. Sommer will serve as a faculty member of the “Evaluations: Necessary Components of ERs” session. She practices in the areas of Education and School Law, Employment and Discrimination and Litigation. She has over thirty 30 years’ experience representing school districts in Pennsylvania and has appeared before the United States Supreme Court on behalf of the Central Bucks School District to argue a special education case. Ms. Sommer is a member of PSBA’s School Solicitor Association and regularly presents to school districts, Intermediate Units, colleges and universities and the legal community.
