Joanne D. Sommer, Esq. to Speak at Special Education Law Seminar
Joanne D. Sommer, Esq. will serve as a faculty member at the Snapshots of Special Education Law program, sponsored by the Pennsylvania Bar Institute (PBI) on July 22, 2014 in Philadelphia.
The seminar will provide a close look at key areas critical to special education law. Ms. Sommer’s seminar, “Specific Learning Disability (SLD) Determination: A difference of opinion or of science?” will provide an overview of regulations related to SLD identification and a discussion by a school psychologist about the science of diagnosing SLD in students.
Ms. Sommer has over thirty two (32) years’ experience representing school districts in Pennsylvania including an appearance before the United States Supreme Court to argue a special education case. Ms. Sommer is a member of PSBA’s School Solicitor Association and regularly presents to school districts, Intermediate Units, colleges and universities and the legal community about education and special education law.
