Marc D. Jonas, Esq. and Zachary A. Sivertsen, Esq. Speak at 2024 PSATS Conference

Marc D. Jonas, Esq. and Zachary A. Sivertsen, Esq., attorneys with Eastburn and Gray, PC, participated in the 2024 Pennsylvania State Association of Township Solicitors (PSATS) Spring Conference on April 15, 2024. The seminar, entitled, “Zoning Anomalies” covered a number of zoning anomalies created by everyday encounters in both zoning and subdivision/land development matters. These include the interplay between the Pennsylvania Municipalities Planning Code with the Sunshine Act and such issues as the role of the public, notice requirements, what constitutes a land use decision, and more. Mr. Jonas and Mr. Sivertsen engaged the roomful of municipal attorneys in lively discussions of these important land use topics.

Mr. Jonas and Mr. Sivertsen are both shareholders and members of the land use and zoning practice group at Eastburn and Gray. They have experience representing private and public clients in front of zoning hearing boards, planning commissions, and governing bodies throughout the Commonwealth.

Mr. Jonas has established a reputation by his peers as one of the preeminent land use attorneys in Pennsylvania with extensive experience in real estate, land use/zoning, and municipal law, representing individuals, businesses, and municipal boards. Among his notable accomplishments, Mr. Jonas was named by Best Lawyers in America® the 2023 Lawyer of the Year for Litigation in Land Use and Zoning Law in the Philadelphia Area. He received the same recognition in 2021 and 2018. In 2017, he was Lawyer of the Year for Land Use and Zoning Law in the Philadelphia Area. He serves as solicitor to the zoning hearing boards of Towamencin, Upper Merion, and Lower Salford Townships. Following his service in the United States Air Force Reserve, he began his legal career as law clerk to President Judge James S. Bowman of the Commonwealth Court of Pennsylvania. He is a previous board chairman of the Montgomery County Planning Commission.

Zachary A. Sivertsen, Esq. practices land use and zoning, real estate, and municipal law at Eastburn and Gray. He has appeared on behalf of clients before zoning hearing boards, municipal governing bodies, courts of common pleas, and the Pennsylvania Commonwealth Court in land development matters, applications for zoning variances, and zoning appeals. In 2023, he was selected by his peers for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America®, Ones to Watch, for his work in Litigation – Real Estate, 2023, and has been recognized annually as a Rising Star in the 2023 Pennsylvania SuperLawyers list from 2018 to the present. Mr. Sivertsen received his law degree from Temple University Beasley School of Law. He earned an undergraduate degree and a master’s degree from Cornell University.
